For more than a year and a half, the coordinators of our Erasmus project “Happier YOUth in a Healthier EU” had been meeting regularly in “virtual meetings”, still hoping that the project could finally start with a real meeting. The Erasmus agency gave us an extra year to finalise the project, June 2023, instead of June 2022. In spring 2022, things became clearer, travel for groups of students became possible, and the first destination was chosen : Lille, the Ozanam high school.

In a short space of time, we had to organise the reception of the young people and plan a programme in line with the theme associated with this first meeting: “Be kind to your mind!

From 3 to 9 April, we received 22 high school students from Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Turkey, accompanied by 8 teachers.

The programme included activities related to the project’s theme. The students also attended the screening of the film “the perk of being a wallpaper”. The workshops took place in the CDI where the pupils prepared a podcast. Our partners discovered the city of Lille during a rally organised by the 2.45 class. Sports activities and a day in Brussels, with a visit to the House of European History, were also organised.

Thank you to all the families who were able to host a young person, and to all those who contributed to the success of this European week.

The next event will take place from 16 to 22 June at the Werner von Siemens Gymnasium in Bad Hartzburg. In October we will go to Istanbul, Amsterdam in January 2023 and finally in May 2023 to Barcelona.
